I was born in Abcoude, The Netherlands. After completing my formal education I studied drama for one year before entering the Conservatory at Maastricht to take up singing under Elisabeth Ksoll and Ton Thissen. After Maastricht I continued my studies at the Sweelinck Conservatory Amsterdam (SCA) with Charles van Tassel. In 1990 I won a British Council Fellowship to study on the Postgraduate Opera Course at the Guildhall School of Music and Drama in London (GSMD) with David Pollard and currently I am regularly receiving coaching from sir Donald McIntyre. I made my professional debut for Scottish Opera in August 1992. |
